What's New?

SchoolTool 2.8.4 Released, SchoolTool 3.0 Announced

SIELibre, LLC has released SchoolTool 2.8.4, a bugfix release of our free student information system. This release addresses two issues:

  • 1432672 -- report cards omitting grades under certain circumstances;
  • 1436881 -- comment dialog not working with certain browsers.

SIELibre is planning to release a major update, SchoolTool 3.0, in the third quarter of 2015, including a completely redesigned "School" page, which streamlines common administrative tasks, and a student fee tracking system.

How to get started.

Simple, automated installation and updates are provided for SchoolTool on Ubuntu Linux.

If you are not already running Ubuntu, you can download and install it on a hard drive, or just test it running on a CD or USB stick.

SchoolTool can be hosted on a PC or server at the school site, or a remote server in "the cloud."

SchoolTool and Ubuntu Linux are free software, so you can run it with no licensing fees to serve as many schools as you like. SchoolTool is distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License v2.0.
